The Problem: The Challenge was to find a cost effective solution for non-critical load (emergency lighting) for the new S-3 Building. This being a large scale project, the client wanted to install the most reliable and resilient system available in the market. The client was at the time unaware of the availability of high capacity inverters
Fuji Electric Solution: The client had used the Online UPS System for lighting applications in earlier projects. The Online UPS System being a double conversion system works with about 90% efficiency, which means continuous ioss of around 10% Based on experience, the Consul Neowatt team advised the following: Firstly, the Consul Neowatt team explained the difference between the Online UPS system and the Inverter System- while the Online UPS has a full system rated capacity charger, the Inverter System has a far smaller capacity charger i.e. it only charges the battery. Hence in this case only a 10KW charger would be required for a 160KVA Inverter, which means a lower cost for the client. Secondly, in an inverter, the load is directly connected to the input power supply and the switch to the inverter is made only in case of a power failure. This results in no loss when power is available. The Consul Neowatt inverter also comes with some robust features: 1.Power factor corrected battery charger 2.Advanced technology DSP based design 3.DC start function 4.Isolation through output transformer 5.Built in static switch for fast change-over
Result: The client was convinced that the solution offered was reliable and cost effective when compared to the previous solution and placed their order. The inverters have been installed.
