Only Qualified UPS Manufacturing Company For Nuclear Power Plants

The world knows the true power of a Nuclear Power plant. This power can generate or destroy, so there was no expense or effort spared with this project undertaken for the NPCIL (Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd). A nuclear energy production plant always requires constant and critical monitoring, due to the nature of the fuel being used.

For this reason, the equipment that is used in these plants must be of the highest quality and top class in every way. A break of even a few seconds in the power backup or supply can cause catastrophic consequences to even the plant's area. This can cause long-lasting effects that will show on both the people and the environment.

‘Nuclear’-sized Requirement for Back-Up

The Nuclear Power Corporation needed a seismically qualified UPS as a requirement for the power back-up options for their plant. Now the problem was that, even on a global scale, only a few UPS systems manufacturers can make such advanced types of UPS systems. With restrictions on the export and purchase of these types of UPSs in global markets, NPCIL had to resort to buying the UPS from third-party sources. As a result, there was uncertainty on the service and repair support that they would be able to claim for these devices.

Since its inception, Fuji Electric India has supported the ‘Make in India’ initiative, so we stepped up to the plate. The team took up the task of developing the seismically qualified UPS at DSIR (Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, Ministry of Science and Technology) approved R&D centre that met all the requirements outlined in the global standards. We carried out an extensive testing exercise after which a production model UPS was placed for testing.

Powering India’s Nuclear Future

With the completion of this project, not only were we able to prove ourselves as a truly experienced leader in the power monitoring and management industry across the world; on developing and delivering to the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL), a seismically qualified UPS system that has passed testing.

Our Falcon 1000 (Industrial UPS) was successfully tested and approved for Seismic compliance at CPRI, Bengaluru as required by NPCIL (Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd) for BARC (Bhabha Atomic Research Centre).

Today, we are now among the few companies globally that have the capability to design and manufacture seismically qualified UPS. This milestone is a testimony to our world-class R&D team who further prove our rich experience and industry-leading expertise in designing and manufacturing commercial and industrial UPS systems for demanding applications.
